The State Department is once again evaluating the “game over for the climate” Keystone XL Pipeline.
The pipeline would speed the draining of the Alberta tar sands - the second largest pool of carbon on the planet - massively accelerating the global warming that is already causing extreme weather around the country.
But right now, it’s not even clear that Keystone XL’s serious climate impacts will be considered by the State Department, as President Obama promised they would when he first rejected the project in January.
The State Department is taking public comments until Monday on how it should conduct its evaluation. We need to urge the department to consider the full impacts of this disastrous pipeline - and reject it.
